Swimming report term 1
Swimming lessons take place at New Windsor School.
We started swimming last week, on Monday week 4.
We’ve been swimming for ten days.
For swimming we did streamlines. Streamlines is when you have to put your hands behind your ears, so that no one can see your ears. A streamline makes you swim straight. We have to kick fast, but our hands do the work to make us swim straight.
For rescuing ourselves we call it self rescue. We have to float on our back, so then we can hear, talk and breathe. Students on lane 2 were on the boat, and they had to put their hands on their head and nose. They said that the maximum was 3 people on the small boat.
In lane 1 they huddled in 2 groups, they started to float. After they finished that activity. They formed into a line and they started to kick. The important thing we had to do was hold on and don’t let go.
Swimming is important so you know what to do when you are near water. It is also for health & safety. The most important rule with the life jackets is… never let go.
